Built a subwoofer box!

Kinja'd!!!

I used dimensions I got off the internet to get a 1.25 cubic foot internal volume. It's super boomy and awful right now but that's because it leaks from every seam because I have yet to caulk it. I have no idea how I'm going to use a caulk gun through a 12" sub hole, but that will be interesting. Also that handle is a piece of accessory belt from an old Chevy Blazer.

Wouldn't it make sense to caulk the inside of the box as you build it, rather than assemble the whole thing and try to stick a caulk gun through the front hole?

Logic. It's a funny thing.

yea you should disassemble it so you can caulk it as you put it back together. I made one a few years ago. Custom cut the bottom so it would fit under the rear seat of my old Sport Trac

Ok, nice. Without caulking the air just kinda spews from everywhere and it sounds awful. I used about six screws to hold on the sides, so I could pretty easily take those off and caulk it up. I have no idea if this sub is designed to be in a closed box, but I didn't have the patience to design a ported enclosure :P

I actually used the old 2 sub box I had. I cut it up to fit just one sub. I want to redo again but I think I'd have to go get new wood for this one.

You're supposed to use wood glue in between the seams. That you're considering disassembling it means that you didn't do this. Looks like you got some pretty large gaps and all the sides aren't making contact. Personally, I'd just rebuild the thing all together with all the necessary supplies on hand. Caulking should be done at the end after the glue sets completely. If you can't fit a caulk gun in there, you can always buy a tube that's about the size of toothpaste.
